What is Venous ablation

Endovenous ablation is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins. It uses heat, delivered through a thin tube called a catheter, to close off the problematic veins.

What to expect

During the procedure, a doctor inserts the catheter into the affected vein and uses ultrasound to guide it. Once in place, the catheter heats the vein, causing it to collapse and seal shut. This stops blood from flowing through the damaged vein, which eventually fades away.

The procedure usually takes about an hour and is done in a doctor’s office with local anesthesia, so you’ll be awake but comfortable. Many people can return to their daily activities right after, although some mild soreness or bruising is common.

Endovenous ablation is effective for treating varicose veins and often provides quick relief from symptoms like pain and swelling. It’s a good option if you’re looking for a non-surgical way to improve the look and feel of your legs.
